Transmission noise when letting off gas

Apr 16, 2020 · I have a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme S 3.1 and I believe that I have a bad gas filter, which was last changed in March 2019 & it was running fine on the morning of Saturday, July 11th, but during the evening I’ve noticed a loss of power even with my foot on the floor it was going very slowly, but when I took my foot off the gas and put it back on, it was going faster. I have a clicking noise that seems to be coming from the transfer case. Its a 2012 Citadel 5.7 AWD. It does it when you first turn it on or switch gears. I'm thinking it is the transfer case motor. Has anyone else had this problem and how long can you drive it this way? The Durango drives fine... The sound is louder when under acceleration, and becomes quieter when letting off the gas. Turning doesn't effect the noise. For the exhaust the only thing that changed recently was some heat shield fell off, but that was over the summer and had zero effect on the noise. jerryp58: Are you saying that I can't change the Gear oil in a 2wd? Jul 09, 2016 · A couple of the exhaust manifold bolts are broken off the head on the passenger side and when I am coasting the heat shield that covers the manifold is flapping up against the manifold. You just don't notice when you give it gas because this motor is so loud. I will be changing these bolts and gasket soon and I will let you know the result. I'm using 75w-90 Severe Gear in the trans, I just don't remember if it had a whining noise like that before. I only really notice it when I back off the gas. The bike is a 2006 Street Glide.
Recently I noticed a clunk when moving slowly 7-10 mph. Apply the gas clunk, let off the gas clunk. I've also noticed a slight increase in vibration in the steering wheel at higher speeds. It seems to occur somewhere in the area of the transmission/T-case to the rear axle.
It's just characteristic drive line slack between the transmission & rear end gears. Most of the time you don't notice it, but you will get the clunk in certain sceinario's. The u-joints are pretty stout.

Anyhow I ran Heet through it in about 15 gal. of gas to no luck. A coworker said to pull off one s/p wire at a time whenever it does it again because he has had this problem before. First plug wire off and it kept running sluggish but not the miss so I put the wire back one and tried the other side, immediate death of the engine.

First and most importantly, check your fluid levels and condition. If your fluids check out, since you said it sounded like it was coming from the front, I would start with the transmission/transfer.
